3/10/08 - Let me start off by thanking Steve Eitzen for updating the Stray Cats website. The website has been seriously lacking for too long. Ernie Cardoza came through (just like he always does) and provided Steve with the important 2008 events and forms. Thanks to Ernie and Steve for coming through when the club really needed help.

In case you miss the elections for 2008. Jeff Goldman (straycatspres@yahoo.com or ca2stay@yahoo.com) has agreed to continue as club President. If you need mechanical advice, Jeff is your man! Just no bad karma on his Cat. Newly elected as Vice President Rick Jennings (rick@fathersandfamilies.com) brings a lot of ideas and energy to the club and he also is the proud owner of a 3rd generation classic Cougar. Karen Lutter (k70sgirl@yahoo.com) is doing a great job as the club secretary and her newly painted 1969 Cougar is looking hot! Club Historian, Ernie Cardoza (born2prowl@juno.com) have been working on the club picnic (sponsored jointly by the Northern California Cougar Club and Mercury Stray Cats Cougar Club) scheduled for Sunday, June 29th, 2008 at the Ed R. Levin Park in Milpitas, California. It will be the picnic and Classic Cougar Show of the year. You can find the entire list of events on the website. Millie Swafford (S34744@aol.com), was elected again as the club treasurer. She continues to keep the clubs financial books in order and makes sure that Jeff does not spend more than what is in the bank account. Thanks Millie for continuing to serve.

The Stray Cats monthly meetings started in January at the Sacramento Vintage Club. Ten member and their Cougars showed up for the meeting, tour of the Sacramento Vintage Club and some great pictures. In February, we teamed up with the Golden Hills Mustang Club to tour Dick Long's home in Napa, California. Talk about a car collector. Dick has the best collection of muscle cars seen anywhere in California. After touring his home, a trip to the wine country was in order. Needless to say, a good time was had by all. After a weather postponement, the Capay Almond festival finally took place March 1st, 2008. Three Cougars and ten Mustangs had a great time rolling up Highway 16 to Esparto, Brook, Capay, Guinda and finally to Rumsey for some great music, crafts and ribs. The monthly meetings will cycle between the Pleasant Hill and Fairfield Round Table Pizza Parlors.

The goal of the club is to have more Cougar runs associated with each meeting. So get your Cats dusted off, cleaned and tuned up. The next fun event is scheduled for April 26th, 2008. You now have to go to the calendar and see what it is. As we travel the highways and byways of northern California in our classic Cougars, the main forms of communication regarding the monthly meetings, cars and car parts for sale and events will be the Mercury Stray Cat website and the Mercury Cougar Forums. For those that don't have access to a computer/internet, the old fashion snail mail will still be used. We do encourage you to contact someone in the club to find out what going on (in case your mail arrives too late). We want to see you and your Cougar "on the road again."
